Chloe tries to play the peacemaker on "Siesta Key," the MTV reality show set in Sarasota County, and it goes about as well as viewers would probably expect.
Tuesday night’s double-header episode of "Siesta Key" on MTV had it all. Fights! Breakups! Tragedy! Gaslighting! A small business grand opening! But somehow it ended where the series all began, a confrontation between Alex and Juliette.
Chloe’s arc this week was her basically trying to juggle the fact that she’s friends with both Alex and Juliette. Juliette seems fine with the situation, but Alex is not. At various points Chloe suggests the two of them hash it out, which is almost always a really bad idea.
At Alyssa’s parents’ Georgia lake house on the Fourth of July, Alex gets mad at Chloe because she told Alyssa that she had to push Alex to tell Alyssa about his six-hour phone conversation with Juliette. He tells Chloe to stop "meddling" over dinner at the lake house, and once Amanda starts piling on, Chloe feels ganged up on and leaves the lake house early.
Meanwhile, the best couple on "Siesta Key" is struggling. Ish comes back from Canada to see Madisson for a few days, and asks her to move in with him in Los Angeles. She’s thrilled, but her parents and her sister Paige are not, as they express over lunch at Fins at Sharky’s in Venice.
By the end of the episode, Madisson and Ish are no longer together. He tells her he needs time to think, considering the issues with her family. But I have a feeling these two lovebirds will find a way to work it out.
Things are going well between Kelsey and Jake. At one point he tells her their relationship has been "so easy." Which is amazing! That’s a really good sign.
But then the unthinkable happens. Jake’s father, who had been fighting cancer, passes away. He is rightfully devastated.
Kelsey offers to come back home with him and be there for him during the grieving process, but he says he can’t expect her to do that. They break it off on good terms, and Jake goes back home to be with his family.
Elsewhere, Juliette and Robby bury the hatchet. They’re on good terms now, and they’re friends. But there’s still one person who under no circumstances will likely ever be okay with Robby again, and that’s Alex.
At the opening night party for Blend Fashion House, the boutique in Sarasota’s Southside Village neighborhood that Juliette is helping her boss, Courtney, open, everyone is there — Amanda, Chloe, Madisson, Brandon, Robby wearing a white jacket — everybody.
But that everybody also includes Alex, who shows up with Alyssa uninvited and proceeds to flick Robby in the ear as soon as he walks through the door.
He spends the rest of the night yelling at Robby across the room and threatening him. He couldn’t care less about whose grand opening it is, or whose party he ruins — this guy is all about himself. Juliette is upset and leaves early, which gets her into trouble with Courtney later on.
Overwhelmed, Chloe once again tries to play the role of peacemaker. She misses her friends as a group. They used to all have so much fun together. And it stinks that Alex and Juliette (mostly Alex) are making everyone pick sides. So she arranges a get-together bonfire at her and Madisson’s house, complete with s’mores and plenty of booze.
The entire main cast plus Amanda is there: Juliette, Alex, Brandon, Chloe, Madisson, Garrett and Kelsey. Chloe tells Alex and Juliette it’s unfair to make their friends choose sides. Juliette tells Alex he can’t force his friends to pick one over the other, but selfish, boneheaded Alex can’t comprehend this. Juliette walks away, but then grabs Alex to go talk.
"I’m glad that I can make you better for the next girl while you damaged me for the next guy," she says. They hug, and this "Siesta Key" hatchet seems to be buried, for now.
