The Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants will present two programs in February at St. Johns County libraries.
The special St. Johns Reads presentation ties into World War I and dovetails off the popularity of the "Dressing Downton" exhibit, which was at the Lighnter Museum from October 2017 through January 2018.
Through food and flowers, the Sisterhood will explore springtime arrangements for your home inspired by the World War I era and “Downton Abbey.”
In addition to the "Downton Abbey" connection, the program also ties into the 2018 St. Johns Reads selection: "Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania," by Eric Larson. Reading the St. Johns Reads selection before the event is encouraged, but not required.
The "sisterhood," also known as Cathy and Marilyn, are members of the Las Adelfas Circle of the Garden Club of St. Augustine.
The programs will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Anastasia Island Branch Library and from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
Light refreshments will be served, and the Friends of the Library will sell raffle tickets for a chance to win the arrangements the Sisterhood creates. Proceeds from the raffle help sponsor this event.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. For information, go to sjcpls.org.
