The show is part of the singer-songwriter's farewell tour

Another iconic musician has announced what he claims will be his final tour, and it includes a stop in Tampa.

Paul Simon will play Amalie Arena on Sept. 7. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m.

The artist first rose to fame as a member of 1960s folk duo Simon & Garfunkel with Art Garfunkel. The group scored No. 1 hits with “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound of Silence” and “Mrs. Robinson,” the latter two of which appeared in the 1967 film “The Graduate,” before breaking up in 1970.

Simon then started a solo career with his 1972 self-titled full-length and its single “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.” He followed those with records like 1975’s “Still Crazy After All These Years” and 1986’s “Graceland,” both of which won Album of the Year Grammys, and most recently released 2016’s “Stranger to Stranger,” which hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Tickets cost $50-$150 before fees and can be purchased at, by calling 800-745-3000 or at Amalie Arena’s box office and Ticketmaster outlets.
