Brooklyn Brewery’s new pale ale, Naranjito, may well be destined to become a summertime classic.
The beer makes judicious use of orange peel to enhance the citrus-forward flavors of summit and simcoe hops, creating a splendidly smooth, hoppy pale ale.
Naranjito remains crisp and light on the finish, with flashes of toasted grain and a hint of pine.
The peel is there only to enhance the citrus flavor in the direction of bitter orange, a welcome change for those of us who shy from pale ales tasting of bitter grapefruit. Naranjito is 4.5 percent alcohol by volume, and a natural paired with seafood.
