An open house for prospective students for the 2019-2020 school year will take place Wednesday at the school, 9385 Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach. The program for students entering grades six to eight begins at 5:30 p.m. For those who will be entering high school, the session begins at 6:30 p.m. There will be a presentation in the gym followed by a visit to the classrooms to learn about department offerings and academy programs.


The Palm Beach County Substance Awareness Coalition is sponsoring its ninth annual School Bus Prevention Poster Contest. This year's theme is "Super Hero Me, Alcohol Free." Students from kindergarten to grade 12 can enter either or both contests. Two winners of the poster contest will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Hanley Foundation and Judy Carreras Foundation. Gift cards also will be awarded in the poster category. Two winners of the video PSA contest will receive a $500 scholarship from the Michael Joseph Brink Foundation. Deadline for entries is Nov. 30. The Palm Beach Poetry Festival has launched its annual High School Poetry Contest in partnership with Old School Square in Delray Beach. Now through Dec. 1, any Palm Beach County public or private high school student can submit one original poem (30 lines maximum) for consideration. In addition, all five winning teen poets will read their poems at the Festival’s Award Ceremony on Jan. 21.

The 2019 ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival is seeking submissions for the Hanley Foundation ArtiGras Youth Art Competition. This year’s theme is “Wild Florida,” encompassing the state’s animals and scenery. Students in kindergarten through grade 12 can submit their artwork through their art teachers through Dec. 6.
