Master gardeners plan plant clinics


Volusia County’s master gardeners will share gardening tips and answer questions during eight plant clinics in March. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up.


• 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.


• 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.


• 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Sugar Mill Gardens, 950 Sugar Mill Road, Port Orange.


• 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 12, at the Daytona Beach Regional Library, 105 E. Magnolia Ave.


• 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 13, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. Master Gardener Howard Jeffries will discuss plant familiarization and Florida friendly landscapes from 10 to 11 a.m.


• 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 17, at the DeBary Public Library, 200 N. Charles R. Beall Blvd.


• 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle.


Master gardeners are volunteers who answer gardening questions at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, present horticultural classes to community groups, and staff information booths at fairs and garden shows. Garden club will learn about herbs


Cherry Laurel Garden Club will host Jeff and Beth Cassella from The Kracken Collection, growers of fine herbs and native plants, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St., Ormond Beach.


They will share their knowledge of herbs (growing and using, both for medicinal and culinary use). Additionally, they will share their expertise on how to attract butterflies to the garden. A variety of plants and herbs will be available for purchase. Enjoy free refreshments at 9:30 a.m., a business meeting at 10 a.m. and the presentation at 11 a.m. The event is open to the public. Garden club hosts monthly meeting


The Oak Hill Garden Club will meet at VIA at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11. Enjoy refreshments followed by a business meeting about the yard sale. For information, call 386-345-3154.
