Students enrolled in the O’Keeffe Pre-Law Studies Program Mock Trial class recently participated in the Florida Middle School Mock Trial competition, traveling to the county courthouse to try a fictional case based on cyberstalking and cyber harassment. Circuit Judge G. Joseph Curley heard the case. Students also met with judges Cymonie Rowe and Joseph Marx as they observed civil and criminal proceedings.

Students graduating with a 3.25 GPA or higher may apply for the Bolinder Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship awards a total of $10,000, ranging from $250 to $2,500, to individuals. Applications and supporting material must be submitted by March 29. The application can be found advertised on the school‘s scholarship board. Registration is now open for Palm Beach County educators to apply for the Holocaust and Human Behavior seminar, conducted by Facing History and Ourselves, and hosted by the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians & Jews. The four-day seminar will take place July 13-16 in West Palm Beach, location to be determined. The curricula taught is geared toward middle and high school teachers who are fulfilling the state mandate for Holocaust studies. The seminar is open to public and private school teachers. The Women of the Western Communities, a social/philanthropic organization in western Palm Beach County, has opened applications for its 2020 scholarship program. Since 1994, the group has awarded one-time scholarships to qualified students who are permanent residents of the western communities and who attend an accredited high school within the county and meet other requirements, including community service and scholastic merit. Applicants must submit an essay and other required documentation by March 31 to be considered for this year's awards. Applications and scholarship information are available from the guidance office. Guidance counselors may contact scholarship committee chair Cheryl Dunn Bychek at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 561-798-1055. Winners will be notified in mid-May.
