Alachua County Animal Services will host a one-day "Full House" event with free pet adoptions Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Animal Services is headquartered at 3400 NE 53rd Ave.
The county's dog kennels are currently under renovation, and it's left the shelter over capacity. In hopes of freeing up some kennel space, officials are offering free adoptions so more strays can be brought in, county officials said in a news release.
Pet adopters must be 18 or older and show identification with proof of a current address. If there are already pets in the home, the potential adopter must show proof that owned animals are current on rabies and license. All dogs and cats available for adoption are examined, vaccinated and spayed or neutered.
