Marion County’s unemployment rate was 5.1 percent in March, down from 5.7 percent during the same month in 2016, the state announced on Friday.

Marion had 129,296 employed people from a labor force of 136,243. In March 2016 the county had 123,776 employed out of 131,216 workers.

CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion noted that the Ocala metropolitan area (which is all of Marion County) had 103,700 nonfarm jobs in March, up 4 percent over March 2016. Only two other Florida metros had greater job growth.

Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in March, down from 4.9 percent a year ago.
