Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Florida or MADD honored law enforcement officials, state prosecutors, civilians and organizations for their time and effort in prevention and DUI enforcement at an event held in Fort Lauderdale.

One of the honorees was Sgt. Anthony Palese of the Florida Highway Patrol Ocala district office for MADD Millennium Achiever for arresting more than 1,000 impaired motorist during his career at the agency.

Larry Coggins, executive director at MADD, said “Sergeant Palese early on in his career saw the devastation that an impaired driving causes and dedicated his life to preventing this crime. There is no way to gauge how many lives he has saved in Florida.”

Palese was also nominated for the 2017 Deputy Larry Morrell MADD Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award.
