WILDWOOD — Wildwood Middle High School senior forward Kari Niblack announced on Saturday that she has verbally committed to play basketball at West Virginia University.

Niblack, the Daily Commercial's 2017 All-Area Player of the Year, will sign her National Letter of Intent with the Mountaineers in November.

"I'm extremely blessed to announce I'm committed to West Virginia University," Niblack wrote on her Facebook page on Saturday. "Thank you to all coaches that recruited me. I'm extremely blessed to get to know so many great people.

"I'm a Mountaineer."

Niblack averaged 17.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game in 2016-17, leading the Wildcats to a 24-6 record and the Class 1A state championship. She scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Feb. 22 in Wildwood's state championship game against Santa Rosa South Walton.

An All-State performer since her freshman season, Niblack is Wildwood's career scoring leader.
