To report downed lines, call the Public Safety Communications’ non-emergency line at 732-9111. If a downed power line is causing an immediate danger, dial 9-1-1.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency is raising awareness that people should be alert for false rumors, scams, identity theft and fraud in the wake of Hurricane Irma. To dispel some rumors, FEMA created www.fema.gov/hurricane-irma-rumor-control.
FEMA post-storm guidelines include:
+ Federal and state workers do not ask for, or accept, money.
+ Always ask to see any FEMA employee ID badge.
+ If you are unsure about anyone claiming to be an emergency management official, do not give out personal information and contact local law enforcement.
+ If you suspect fraud, contact the National Center for Disaster Fraud hotline at 1-866-720-5721, email email@example.com or go to www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov.

VA clinic update
The Ocala Community Based Outpatient Clinic has not resumed normal operations. A Mobile Medical Unit for primary care and Mobile Vet Center for counseling and information resources will be on site today 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for walks-ins.
