LLESBURG — Those whose homes suffered major damage during Hurricane Irma can apply for financial aid from the American Red Cross.
A team from the organization will take applications from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 16-18 at the Leesburg Red Cross office, 2848 W. Main St.
Up to $125 per person living in an affected home is possible. The Red Cross has a list of homes that qualify in Lake but will send out an assessment team if a home is not on the list. Residents qualify if they own the home or rent.
"It's not the kind of assistance that will fix a roof or fix a home. It's to cover basic needs and out of pocket costs," said Steven Thompson, disaster program manager with the American Red Cross of Mid-Florida.
