The police report states that the incident is consistent with activities by organized retail crime groups.

Two Tampa residents were arrested Wednesday after police say they stole more than $2,000 worth of clothes and baby formula, according to a Gainesville Police Department arrest report.

Akilah Chauntel Neves, 34, and Kameron Tyrell Shellman, 25, entered the Walmart at 5700 NW 23rd St. and put gift bags on the bottom of their shopping cart, according to police. Neves and Shellman then put clothes and 88 cans of baby formula in the bags and left the store without paying for the items. The items were worth $2,240.

The two were stopped leaving another Walmart, where police say they tried to again steal baby formula, but stopped when law enforcement arrived.

The police report states that the incident is consistent with activities by organized retail crime groups, which travel the state to steal high-value items that can be resold for a markup, like baby formula.

Neves and Shellman were charged with grand theft and were held in the Alachua County jail.
