Brittany Bowe next competes in the 500-meter event on Sunday along with fellow Ocala speed skater Erin Jackson.

Ocala native Brittany Bowe finished just outside the medals in the 1,000 meter women's speed skating event at 2018 Winter Olympics Wednesday.

Bowe, a graduate of Trinity Catholic, finished fourth, eight-tenths of a second behind the 1:13:56 Olympic record time set by Jorien Ter Mors of the Netherlands in the Gangneung Oval in Gangneung, South Korea.

Nao Kodaira of Japan won the silver medal, and Miho Takagi, also of Japan, took bronze.

Fellow Team USA member Heather Bergsma came in eighth at 1 second, 59 hundredths of a second off the winning pace.

Bowe next competes in the 500-meter event on Sunday along with fellow Ocala skater Erin Jackson.
