A 40-year-old Middleburg man is behind bars after numerous images of young children being exploited were found Thursday inside a safe in a home in the 1500 block of Ibis Drive, the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
Rodney Thomas Ternovsky was charged with 10 counts of possession of a photograph of a sexual performance of a child, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at Ternovsky's home where he spoke with investigators. During the search, a lockbox was found in a safe with a computer thumb drive inside, the Sheriff's Office said.
The thumb drive was inserted into a computer, revealing files with images and videos. Several showed pre-teen children being sexually exploited, some of them also being sexually battered by men, the Sheriff's Office said.
This was the week's second case handled by the Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children‘s Unit. The unit, working with the Orange Park Police Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, also executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home in the 400 block of Newport Drive in Orange Park, but no details were released.
