The Tavares Theater's comedy “Murder at the Howard Johnson's” takes its final bow this week in Tavares as murder takes some hilarious turns.

There are a wide variety of musical performances for almost every taste this weekend, with a James Taylor, Carol King and Simon & Garfunkel tribute Friday in Mount Dora and love songs by Daryl Taylor-Hazel Friday in Clermont.

Orange Blossom Opry offers concerts by Janie Fricke and Gene Watson.

A family-friendly comedy show will tickle even the kid's funny bones Saturday in Eustis at the Laugh Out Loud Family Comedy Experience.

'Murder at the Howard Johnson's'

The Tavares Theater first production of the 2018 season is the suspense comedy “Murder at the Howard Johnson's” through Sunday at the Family Center of Bridges Covenant Church, 1100 N. St. Clair Abrams Ave., Tavares.

In the fast-paced comedy, the premise shifts in each scene as characters are manipulated by wife and lover Arlene Mill, played by Michelle Bueller. Murder victims shift from husband to lover to wife. Overconfident Mitchell Lovell, played by Roy Hamlin, is the couple's dentist and Arlene's lover. Monotone Paul Miller, Arlene's husband, is played by Eddie Lucas. Dennis Gleason directs. Fire and Rain: The James Taylor Experience, lead by Greg Pitts, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m Friday at the Mount Dora Community Building, 520 N. You Gotta Love Songs

The Black Box Theatre at the Clermont Performing Arts Center, 3700 S. U.S. Highway 27 hosts Daryl Taylor-Hazel – You Gotta Love Songs at 8 p.m. Friday. Taylor-Hazel has performed more than 40 years and has been a headliner at numerous local and national venues. Cost: $26. Details: clermontpac.com.

Orange Blossom Opry

Two entertainers light up the stage this weekend at the Orange Blossom Opry, 16439 S.E. 138th Terrace in Weirsdale. Two-time female vocalist of the year Janie Fricke has hit the top spot on the country charts 18 times. Her performance is 7:30 p.m. Friday with tickets between $35 and $43. Laugh Out Loud Family Comedy Experience

Visionary Republic and Christian Night Out present the Laugh Out Loud Family Comedy Show Experience at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Eustis Community Center, 601 Northshore Dr. in Eustis.
