No injuries were reported.

SARASOTA COUNTY — A neighbor who was outside when a fire began in the 4000 block of Olive Avenue on Wednesday night said he could see flames from the two-alarm fire shooting above the tall pine trees surrounding the house.

The Sarasota County Fire Department, which has a station about two blocks away, responded to the fire at 9:15 p.m. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.

It appeared that there were residents displaced, but no injuries were reported, according to Sarasota County Emergency Services.

Neighbor Patrick Reynolds was about a block away when he heard the sound of pops and saw the lights from ambulances appear down the street.

"I started walking down here. The closer I got the more pops were coming out and there were flames shooting 20 feet over the 100-feet pine tree," Reynolds said. "I looked across the street and the house was on fire. There was a car in the driveway and that was on fire. Ambulances, fire trucks, and police officers, and a lot of commotion, man. It was pretty crazy."

"The police and the fire rescue was on top of it big time pretty quick."

Reynolds said he saw about two or three people walking away from the house when the fire began.

"It's a quiet neighborhood," Reynolds said. "I couldn't believe what I was seeing — it was pretty crazy."

The State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the cause of the blaze.
