Gretchen Smith accepts job with Health Department in Flagler County.
PALM COAST — Flagler County Chamber of Commerce marketing and communications manager Gretchen Smith will be leaving her position effective April 5 for a job with the Department of Health in Flagler County.
Smith has been with the Chamber for nine years. She has worked with media partners to promote news, programs and events and has managed production of Chamber publications. She has also been staff liaison for the Business Issues and Marketing & Communications committees and the Economic Alliance Council.
"It's been a great ride; it's a great organization," she said Wednesday. "But you're always looking for an opportunity to reinvent yourself."
She said one of the highlights of her time with the Chamber was bringing the Flagler Volusia Public Leadership Institute to the community. The candidate-training program builds a bench of future leaders.
“We are sorry to lose Gretchen’s skills, talents and integrity,” Chamber President Jorge Gutierrez wrote in an email to members. “Gretchen will be pursuing an interest in communications — a topic she is very passionate about and committed to. We wish Gretchen success in her new endeavors.”
Her new position will be as public health communications manager and she will report to Health Department administrator Bob Snyder. She has had some background in the health field, having formerly worked with Florida Blue.
