Brunswick Commerical and Government Products in Edgewater was one of 22 facilities recognized by parent Brunswick Corp. for safety, according to a media release on Monday.

The plant makes fiberglass watercraft and rigid inflatable boats, aimed primarily at the law enforcement, military, fire and rescue and workboat markets, according to the Brunswick corporate website.

The Edgewater plant was one of three to earn the Brunswick Award for Sustained Safety Performance for 2017 along with the Mercury Marine Regional Distribution Center in Australia and Mercury 36 Racing in Wisconsin.

Three facilities won the Chairman's Safety Award, the company's highest honor for safety, including Mercury Marine Engineering in Wisconsin, Mercury Regional Distribution Center in Ontario, Canada, and the Lund/Crestliner facility in New York Mills, Minnesota.

The company recognized 16 plants with the Distinguished Safety Award for 2017, including facilities in Miami and Pompano Beach in Florida.

"Each day we strive to ensure the safety of our employees and the communities in which they live and work," said Brunswick Chairman and CEO Mark Schwabero in the release. "Safety is everyone's responsibility and concern at Brunswick."
