Hotel and bar/grill added to waterfront project

MANATEE COUNTY — Developers of a residential/marina community on Anna Maria Sound said they plan to add a 130-room hotel and restaurant to the project inspired by the king of laid-back music.

Margaritaville Holdings and Minto Communities said Tuesday they have tapped Floridays Development Co. of Sarasota to build the first Margaritaville hotel and LandShark Bar & Grill on the West Coast of Florida.

They will be adjacent to the One Particular Harbour Margaritaville Marina and Residences at Harbour Isle, the 220-acre community now under way at 12300 Manatee Ave. W., on the western shore of Perico Island, just east of the bridge to Anna Maria Island.

The deep-water marina, slated to open this summer, will include 55 wet slips and 128 dry slips, ships store, live entertainment and shops.

The community will contain 132 luxury residences with Margaritaville-inspired design, overlooking Anna Maria Sound or the Harbour Isle lagoon. Two furnished model homes are open.

Construction on the hotel and restaurant is expected to begin in early 2019.

“We are excited to welcome the award-winning development team at Floridays to the Margaritaville family and expand our presence in one of the most desirable Gulf Coast settings,” Jim Wiseman, president of Margaritaville Development, said in a statement.

Margaritaville is a global lifestyle brand inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It has 11 lodging locations across the Southeast and Caribbean with more than 30 additional ones planned.
