The 23-year-old man found dead early Thursday in the 2900 block of North Old Kings Road has been identified as Christopher Clayshon Fonte, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Officers were called to the scene about 2:30 a.m. after a body was reported in the industrial area near Huron Street in the city's Northwest side, police said. No immediate cause of death has been released, but detectives do suspect it wasn't natural.
Fonte had just been released May 9 from the Duval County jail following a Jan. 18 arrest for auto theft and possession of a controlled substance.
The Sheriff's Office lists the dead man's last known address as the Mental Health Resource Center on East Church Street, but a house on Marianna Road on the Southside is listed on his January arrest report.
It would be unofficially the city's 37th homicide of the year compared to 52 at this time last year, according to Times-Union records at Jacksonville.com/homicides.
