New EEE cases
New cases of eastern equine encephalitis have been reported locally. Five horses and two emus have died of the virus in the county this year. Free valet parking
Ocala Main Street, the city of Ocala and some downtown businesses are providing a free valet parking service, based on the southwest corner of the square. Participating businesses include Marion Cultural Alliance, Brick City Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar, Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille, Ivy on The Square, Hello Gorgeous Salon, Brick City Boutique, Crave LA Studio, Ivy Boutique, The Corkscrew, Shannon Roth Collection Olivia & Co. Kids, Agapanthus and Stella's Modern Pantry. Hours of operation are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 5-10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets must be validated at a participating business to be free; otherwise the fee is $10.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Marion County will hold a fundraiser night 5-10 p.m. Friday at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 2645 SW College Road, Ocala. Tell the cashier prior to paying for a meal and 50 percent of the cost will go to the organization. Visit chipotle.com.
The Friends of the Historical Evergreen Cemetery, Sons of Confederate Veterans Pvt. William R. Milton Camp 741 and United Daughters of the Confederacy Marion Dragoons Chapter 2311, in partnership with the city of Ocala Public Works Department, will hold a Greenwood Cemetery volunteer cleanup day 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at 1393 NE Third St., Ocala.
