Officials said the 13-year-old girl was at Tyrone Walker’s residence for more than 10 hours and he never attempted to contact the girl’s family.
A 40-year-old Silver Springs Shores man who told police he took a 13-year-old girl to his residence because he said the girl did not want to go home was arrested Thursday on a charge of interference with custody.
The girl says he also sexually assaulted her, but detectives are still investigating that allegation, according to the Ocala Police Department.
Tyrone Walker told OPD Detective Dustin Todd that the girl told him she had sneaked out of her home and did not want to get in trouble with her mother. Walker said he drove her to his home, according to OPD. Walker said he never had sex with the child or touched her.
Officials said the teen was at Walker’s residence for more than 10 hours and he never attempted to contact the girl’s family.
According to police officials, the 13-year-old and a 12-year-old girl left their homes in the early morning hours Wednesday and met at Parkside Garden Apartments at 621 NW Second St. After that, they split up. They reconnected when Walker picked them up separately and drove them to a residence in the 1800 block of Northwest Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
After spending some time there, Walker dropped the 12-year-old off at her home. Walker then took the older girl to his home in the Shores because, he said, she needed to shower and rest.
