Chelsea Phillips was at a friend's house
The 9-year-old girl who disappeared after getting off a school bus near her home in Citra about 2 p.m. Thursday has been found, the Marion County Sheriff's Office announced at 11:45 a.m. Friday.
Chelsea Phillips had been considered missing and endangered. But she was found at a friend's house.
The bus stop is about a quarter mile from her home. When she couldn't be found, sheriff's deputies started searching. This stretched from Thursday night to Friday morning. The sheriff's Field Force and helicopter crew led the way.
According to Deputy Tim O'Hara, who was going door to door as part of the Field Force, he knocked on the friend's door and a teenage boy opened the door. A girl was standing behind him. O'Hara asked the girl her name and she said it was Chelsea Phillips.
"We have been looking for you," he said he told her.
O'Hara said the girl was back home and was "doing all right."
