Suspect was drinking at victim's home

SUMMERFIELD — A man accused of punching an 83-year-old man in the face was arrested Friday.

Marion County Sheriff's deputies found James Houston McClane hiding in the woods. McClane, interviewed by Deputy Ryan Stith, denied hitting the victim, saying he only pushed him away.

The victim told law enforcement officials he was at home when he told McClane that he did want him drinking there because of his behavior. The elderly man said McClane got angry and punched him in the face, according to an arrest report.

Deputies said the victim had swelling around his right eye, had bruises on his face, and had a cut under his right eye.

McClane, 48, was charged with battery on a person older than 65 and taken to the Marion County Jail, the report said.
