It was the second day of record-setting heat in Daytona Beach. On Saturday, the temperature in Daytona — 94 — tied a record set in 1990.

Daytona Beach broke a record high Sunday when the mercury hit 94 degrees. It breaks a record for the date — 93 — set in 2004, 1999 and 1934, the National Weather Service said.

The Weather Service warned that in Volusia and Flagler counties the combination of above normal temperatures and high humidity was producing peak heat index readings between 102 and 107 and urged people working or playing outdoors to take frequent breaks out of the sun and drink plenty of water.
