Bradenton Area’s Restaurant Month, which features deals through October created to drive business to the coastal eating establishments hit hardest by red tide, now includes a sweepstakes offering diners the chance to win a beach vacation.

To be entered into the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau's sweepstakes with WFLA 970 Tampa Bay, those taking advantage of the “30 Day Deals” offered at participating restaurants (listed at BradentonGulfIslands.com/RestaurantMonth) between now and Oct. 31 should post a picture of themselves enjoying their meal to either Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #DineCoastal. 

Those who do will be entered to win one of two packages. 

Package One includes:

• Voucher for two round-trip air fare to Sarasota Bradenton International Airport

• Gift Certificate for two adults for a five-night stay at Silver Surf Resort

• Gift Certificate for two adults for a one-hour Segway tour compliments of Segs by the Sea

• Anna Maria Island restaurant vouchers

Tikka Indian Cuisine

Aficionados of Indian fare are pleased with the opening of Tikka Indian Cuisine in Bird Bay Plaza, Venice. The new restaurant (formerly a Mexican eatery), has been refurbished with an attractive half stone wall, hanging greenery, decorative wine racks and seating for 58 guests in a modern vibe.

Proprietors Crystal and Krishna Sureddy, with Chef Kumar Sahani from Goa, are providing authentic Indian dishes, offering a wide array of tasty selections that are melded with flavorful seasonings (choice of mild, medium or spicy) from the exotic country.

Among signature offerings are rice (biryani) combinations, grilled (tandoori) options and curries, all with choice of veggies, chicken, shrimp or lamb additions. Among other selections of note are chicken korma, lamb tikka masala and chicken vindaloo, plus much more, including several variations of the popular naan bread. For dessert, diners may enjoy rice pudding, mango or coconut kulfi. Beer (Indian and domestic) and a nice selection of wines are available.

Eat Like a Local Restaurant Week

The Sarasota-Manatee Originals' third annual Eat Like a Local Restaurant Week continues today through Sunday. Guests can “Dine to the Nines” at nearly 50 local independently owned restaurants featuring specially priced breakfast, lunch and dinner prix fixe menu selections. Breakfast and lunch menus are priced at $9, $19 or $29, and dinner menus at either $19, $29 or $39, depending on the restaurant. Local favorites returning this year include Bijou Café, Mattison's and Pier 22. Coolinary anniversary

The Coolinary Restaurant & Bar at 1359 Main St. in downtown Sarasota is celebrating its second anniversary today through Saturday. Thursday will be "happy hour all night long," with reduced drink prices and food specials. Dinner: Three-course dinners for $29 at Brio Tuscan Grille, Seasons 52 and Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue. The Capital Grille will offer a three-course dinner for $49.

Caribbean Evening Under the Stars 

The Westin's Caribbean Evening Under the Stars fundraiser, taking place Oct. 12, is hosted by The Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, with 100 percent of contributions to benefit Puerto Rico's farmers. The event will raise money to help the island’s small farms, still struggling from the devastation wrought by the 2017 hurricane season, rebuild.
