A 25-year-old woman was transported to UF Health Shands Trauma Center early Thursday morning after Gainesville and Alachua County firefighters found her trapped inside her crashed vehicle with multiple life-threatening injuries.
GFR media release, sent by District Chief Pat Lewis, said fire rescue units responded at 12:49 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash, which occurred at the 5000 block of Millhopper Road.
It took 38 minutes to cut the woman out of the vehicle using the Jaws of Life and other equipment.
The woman had multiple injuries, and her legs were pinned inside the “severely damaged vehicle,” Lewis wrote.
Her name was not released.
GFR District Chief Cary Williams said he was not sure if the woman was responsive after the crash.
