Alachua County Elections Supervisor Kim Barton and the canvassing board will conduct a state-mandated recount of votes for the U.S. Senate, governor and Florida agriculture commissioners races starting a 1 p.m. today.
Under Florida law, vote tallies in those races are close enough to trigger a statewide recount of ballots that were run through machines.
The recount will continue uninterrupted until it is completed, according to a news release from Barton’s office.
Canvassing board members are Barton, Alachua County Commissioner Mike Byerly and County Judge Tom Jaworski.
The recount will be at the elections office at 515 N. Main St. and is open to the public. A test of the tabulating equipment to be used in the recount will be done just before the ballots are fed in.
