MARION COUNTY - The Marion County Sheriff's Office investigated at least two vehicle burglaries Friday, including the reported theft of a firearm from a Nissan SUV.

According to a MCSO report, an undisclosed type of firearm was reported missing form a Nissan Pathfinder located on Southwest 142nd Court.

The report indicates the burglary occurred sometime between Thursday at 10:30 p.m. and Friday at 7:30 a.m. The owner indicated the SUV was locked.

In a second case, a purse with identification and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported taken form a Nissan Ultima located on Southeast 29th Street sometime between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday morning, The owner indicated the vehicle was locked.

 

 

MARION COUNTY--A 39-year-old Ocala man died Friday night as the result of a single-car crash in southwest Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

According to an FHP news release. Steven Michael Walsh was pronounced dead by Marion County Fire Rescue at the scene of the 10:50 p.m. crash on County Road 475, one mile north of County Road 484.

The news release said that Walsh, driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla and traveling north on CR 475, veered left off the paved roadway and onto the west shoulder for unknown reasons.

The Toyota struck a fence and began to overturn, and then hit a brick driveway entrance in the 12000 block of CR 475. Walsh was ejected from the car.

The FHP release indicates Walsh was not wearing a seatbelt.
