Several people sustained apparently non-life-threatening injuries Saturday when a ride malfunctioned at the Jacksonville Fair.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department posted on its Twitter account that the injuries were caused by the ride shutting down.
About 20 people were on the Sky Flyer ride when it malfunctioned about 4:05 p.m., Gayle Hart, vice president of marketing for the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair, told Times-Union news partner First Coast News.
Hart described all the injuries as minor. She also said it was the first ride at the Jacksonville Fair to malfunction this year, noting that malfunctions are "very rare," First Coast News reported.
Seven patients were taken to the hospital while six other refused treatment, according to an initial report from the scene.
