A former high school football player at Santaluces in Lantana and Pope John Paul in Boca Raton was killed in a shooting in Daytona Beach, according to WPTV NewsChannel 5, The Post’s news partner.
Daytona Beach's police chief confirmed that Trey Ingraham, 19, was one of two men found shot to death on Friday, WPTV reported. Investigators said the shooting may have occurred Thursday.
Police also said they have a person of interest in the case, but they are waiting to finish their investigation before filing charges.
According to the Miami Herald, police said Ingraham and his roommate were found dead inside their apartment. The person of interest may have stayed at the apartment with the two men, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Ingraham had attended Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach but was not enrolled at the time of his death. He played wide receiver and cornerback for Santaluces and Pope John Paul.
Quintin Betancur who in 2010 volunteered as a coach of the West Boynton Football League for children 13 and younger, reacted on Twitter:
"Very saddened by the news I received this morning of Trey Ingraham passing. Rest In peace to a great football player and an even better kid."
