The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office will investigate late Tuesday's crash.
BOYNTON BEACH — A 92-year-old Boynton Beach woman was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Soline Occean wandered away from her family’s home on Baytree Circle at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. She was hit just before 10 p.m. while walking along the road at Hypoluxo Road and Military Trail, about 3 miles northwest of the home, authorities report.
In a report released Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office said a Hyundai Santa Fe struck Occean at 9:51 p.m. as she walked from the roadway median at the intersection into the travel lane.
The driver of the Sante Fe, identified as Carmen Mejia, 45, of suburban Lantana, was not injured in the crash, according to the PBSO report. She was wearing a seat belt, and there is no evidence that either drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
Occean was diagnosed with dementia 12 years ago, police report.
