Down on hatred
In response to Douglas R. Glover's comments regarding pit bulls (Readers Write, July 31, News-Tribune), I must say he made his hatred of them very clear indeed.
We should all appreciate his very sincere warning that any association with a pit bull, from infants to grandma, will have devastating results, up to and including death.
In keeping with the "sincere warnings" theme, here is mine. Be warned that your life, your child's life, your grandma's life, and your poodle's life may be in great danger just leaving your house; this has nothing at all to do with pit bulls, by the way.
Sorry, I do not have the numbers on people being killed or shredded by pit bulls this year, but I do have other very disturbing numbers. Since the beginning of 2019, 62 people, innocent people going about their day's activities, have been killed and many, many more injured by, ready for this, PEOPLE!
In my lifetime, and I am "up there" in age, never has there been so much fear, discontent and hatred among us. Do not get me wrong, most people are good, most pit bulls are good, but there are the few that have the rage that no one seems able to explain. Breaks my heart.
Last, but not, by far, least, what bothered me most about Glover's letter were the comments about the Flagler Humane Society. People who care for the "voiceless" (elderly, mentally challenged, infants and animals) to me are the ANGELS on this earth. These people DO NOT have hearts filled with hatred, but with compassion.
I challenge anyone to go to the Flagler Humane Society, where you will be in no danger, and maybe after looking into some animals' eyes, you will leave with a little love and respect in your heart.
Oh, before you leave, donations are always needed and appreciated.
