A 75-year-old woman was critically injured when she was hit by two vehicles in suburban Boca Raton.

A suburban Boca Raton woman remained in critical condition Wednesday after being injured Monday in a hit-and-run crash, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities identified the woman as Karen R. Kesner, 75. The drivers of two vehicles involved briefly spoke to each other before fleeing the scene, according to a sheriff's crash report.

The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Palmetto Park Road and Ponderosa Drive. According to the sheriff's office, Kesner was walking along the east side of Ponderosa Drive and using the crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle that was traveling east on Palmetto Park Road.

She fell onto the roadway and the vehicle came to a stop just the east of where the crash occurred.

A second vehicle traveling south on Ponderosa made a left turn onto the Palmetto Park Road, then maneuvered around other vehicles that had stopped because of the crash. While doing so, the vehicle ran over Kesner, then stopped behind the vehicle that initially hit her, investigators said.

Kesner was taken to Delray Medical Center.

Witnesses told investigators the two drivers involved spoke to each other for a short time, then fled east on Palmetto Park Road .
