Three local groups have already scheduled events at Mar-a-Lago for the upcoming social season, including The TrumpettesUSA, the self-proclaimed “number one support group” for President Donald Trump.
The TrumpettesUSA will host their third annual event on Feb. 1, 2020. Ticket prices have not been released but the first two events, in January 2018 and this past February, were sold out. Although the group is registered as a non-profit in Florida, it does not accept donations.
The 2019 Trumpettes event was a country-western themed affair. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of an award to film and television actor Jon Voight, who was honored at the gala for his support for Trump.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue, another group with ties to Trump, has scheduled its annual Wine, Women & Shoes luncheon for March 14, according to its permit application filed with the Town of Palm Beach.
Lara Trump, who is married to the president’s son, Eric, and is a senior adviser to the Trump 2020 campaign, is a supporter of the Palm Beach Gardens-based group and regularly attends the annual event.
Lara Trump, who owns two rescue dogs, also visited Palm Beach County last year to lobby for a constitutional amendment to end greyhound racing. Sixty-nine percent of Florida voters approved the amendment, which will end dog racing by 2020.
Now considered the biggest daytime fundraiser at the president’s private club, the Big Dog Ranch Rescue 2019 event sold out, with 600 tickets priced $500 and $1,000 sold.
Trump dropped by the sold-out event four months ago at about 4 p.m., shortly after returning from six-plus hours of golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. The president posed for selfies, then left amid calls for him to adopt a dog.
The event raised $1 million and the group expects to raise $1.8 million in 2020.
Save-a-Pet Florida has scheduled its Night of Music & Song for March 31. The group did not hold an event at Mar-a-Lago last year but hopes to raise $120,000 at the 2020 event.
