Publix supermarket will be the anchor tenant of the new Manatee County plaza, along with Yummy Sushi Bistro, Nail Boutique & Spa, Jets Pizza and Heartland Dental.

A new retail plaza advertised as the “gateway to Manatee County” will open its anchor store, a Publix, in mid-September.

Primerica Group One Inc. of Tampa announced that the Publix store at its new retail center, Gateway Commons of Manatee, will open Sept. 19.

Gateway Commons, a 28-acre property, is at Moccasin Wallow and Buffalo Roads in Palmetto, off of exit 229 on Interstate 75. Once it’s built out, Gateway Commons will have about 83,000 square feet of in-line retail space plus several outparcels.

The Publix will be 48,387 square feet, and designed in the grocer’s latest prototype, according to Primerica. According to commercial building permits filed with Manatee County, it will also have a pharmacy. Other tenants that have signed on so far are Publix Liquors, Yummy Sushi Bistro, Nail Boutique & Spa, Jets Pizza and Heartland Dental.
