Garbage collection was suspended during Hurricane Dorian. Now officials are announcing garbage collection resuming in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida

As Hurricane Dorian moves away from Northeast Florida, residents are waiting for garbage collection schedules to return to normal.

Here's a look at how things stand:

The city announced that garbage collection will resume on Thursday. Collections that normally would have taken place Wednesday will be Thursday, while Thursday collection moves to Friday and Friday collection moves to Saturday. The schedule is set to return to normal next week.

Clay County’s Environmental Convenience Centers and Rosemary Hill Waste Management Facility will be open Thursday for normal business hours 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Curbside garbage, recycling and yard pick-up will run on a holiday schedule:

• Wednesday routes will run Thursday
• Thursday routes will run Friday
• Friday routes will run Saturday

St. Johns County's Solid Waste Management Department expects garbage collection to resume Thursday for residents who would normally have garbage collected on Wednesday or Thursday. Recycling and yard waste for Wednesday or Thursday will not be made up, and will wait until next week.
