After closing to visitors in preparation for Hurricane Dorian, several local cultural organizations, parks, museums and more are cleaning up and reopening. Here is a list of those either open or in the process of opening:
Henry Morrison Flagler Museum: The Palm Beach institution will reopen on Thursday, after closing Saturday, Aug. 31. Those who had purchased admissions tickets for that period may begin redeeming them Thursday. The Grandparents Day event for Saturday is still planned.
Busch Wildlife Foundation: The Jupiter wildlife park reopened Wednesday with normal hours and activities.
Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society; The Palm Beach Zoo is currently “dedicated to examining and clearing all animal exhibits, guest pathways, and structures in addition to getting the animals back to their homes,” says social media coordinator John Towey. The zoo hopes to open noon Thursday but will provide updates.
Lake Worth Playhouse: The downtown theater has rescheduled its auditions for the October production of “Lungs” to Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m.
Spady Cultural Heritage Museum: The Delray Beach museum reopened Wednesday, with normal operating hours. Its upcoming exhibit, “Eroica: compared to the rest of the world” will open, as scheduled, on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 12-2 PM.
Boca Ballet Theatre: Opened with regularly scheduled classes on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Boca Museum of Art: The Boca Raton Museum of Art will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. They will continue to offer free admission for the coming days as an appreciation to the community.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center: In partnership with Palm Beach County Parks, Loggerhead will reopen its campus Thursday at 10 a.m. All normal activities will resume unless notified otherwise. Staff and volunteers returned to campus to assess any damages & return sea turtle patients to their hospital tanks. All sea turtle patients are safe, however the facility has received over 100 hatchlings due to impacts of the storm and expects to continue to receive more. The Center will resume its normal research surveying activities on Thursday.
Lion Country Safari : Lion Country Safari opened Wednesday at 10 a.m. The preserve will be open with limited amenities
Norton Museum of Art: The Norton plans to resume normal operating hours at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5.
Palm Beach Dramaworks: Opened on Wednesday.
Palm Beach State College and Duncan Theatre: All Palm Beach State College campuses to resume operations Thursday.
