GREENACRES — After being caught sexually battering a 9-year-old last month, Jonathan David Leon didn't know what to say.
“He couldn’t even explain what happened other than to say there’s something wrong with him,” a Palm Beach County sheriff’s investigator wrote in the Aug. 29 arrest report. The 29-year-old Greenacres man eventually told detectives he sexually battered the child at least once a week for five months because he needed “practice.”
Authorities arrested Leon on 29 counts of sexual battery of a minor.
He is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without the possibility of posting bail. When reached by telephone last week, Leon’s attorney, John Olea, declined to speak about the case.
A woman told authorities she woke up shortly after 6 a.m. Aug. 29 and saw Leon on top of her 9-year-old in the child’s room.
Sheriff’s investigators were contacted that day.
The relationship between the child and Leon is redacted from sheriff’s records. However, it appears the abuse happened at a home near Greenacres.
Both the child and Leon told authorities the sexual abuse had been happening since at least February on mornings when the child’s siblings were staying elsewhere.
