The National Park Service announced Friday that the Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments will return to normal operations today, following a closure due to Hurricane Dorian.

According to a release, NPS staff conducted assessments of both parks on Thursday and spent Friday preparing for reopening to the public. Castillo de San Marcos received only minor damage. Fort Matanzas sustained significant beach erosion, leading to the closure of the beach ramp parking lot. Fort Matanzas ferry operations are also suspended until repairs can be made to the damaged dock gangway.
