PALM BEACH GARDENS - The Gardens Mall is gathering supplies to assist areas of the Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Dorian.

Beginning Friday, items can be dropped off at the Information Desk on the lower level near Macy’s during all mall hours.

The Gardens Mall has partnered with the Caribbean Strong Relief Team to launch its supply drive, said Whitney Pettis, Director of Marketing and Merchant Relations at The Gardens Mall.

The mall is a designated collection site for northern Palm Beach County, and will collaborate with the Bahamian government and the Consulate General of the Bahamas in Miami to transport donations to the islands, Pettis said.

"People in Palm Beach County know we got lucky with Hurricane Dorian," Pettis said. "Now they are looking for a way to help our neighbors in The Bahamas. As a community partner, The Gardens Mall can offer a central location for people to drop off supplies during the recovery period."

These items are being requested: water, nonperishable foods, family hygiene kits (tissues, toothpaste, toothbrushes, towels, sanitary napkins), water bladders, water containers, cleaning supplies (bleach, mops, brooms, disinfectants, garbage bags, sponges), baby items/supplies, plastic water bottles, cots, blankets, flashlights, batteries, insect repellents (DEET-free), cooking utensils, plastic sheeting, portable generators, portable outdoor lamps/lights, water purification kits, disposable utensils, power banks, solar-powered chargers, portable radios, cloth bags, biodegradable bags, first aid kits (sterile bandages/gauze – all sizes, tape), and tents (20-30 man).

The Gardens Mall, at 3101 PGA Blvd., will accept supplies during mall hours, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
