The middle school in Royal Palm Beach was locked down Friday afternoon as a precaution as was a nearby elementary school.
ROYAL PALM BEACH — Crestwood Middle School was locked down Friday afternoon following what appears to be a false report of a shooting by the middle school in Royal Palm Beach.
Palm Beach County School District authorities are investigating the incident on Sparrow Drive and briefly locked down nearby Cyprus Trails Elementary School as a precaution as well.
They put the middle school on a lockdown shortly after 2 p.m., meaning no one could leave or enter the campus.
The school district said late Friday that the lockdown later was lifted and students were dismissed as usual.
The district stressed no threat ever was made to the school.
In March, reports of a student having a gun locked down the middle school’s campus. Administrators said the report was not true and that the student who allegedly had the gun faced “severe disciplinary consequences.”
