The driver of the Scion, 62-year-old Stephen Roberts of Ocoee, was taken to South Lake Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

CLERMONT — One man died and a woman was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision in the southbound lanes of Hancock Road between North Ridge Boulevard and West Point Boulevard, Clermont authorities say.

Police say that around 2:40 p.m. a red Scion traveling north on Hancock crossed over the median and collided directly with a maroon Lexus driving south.

The driver of the Scion, 62-year-old Stephen Roberts of Ocoee, was taken to South Lake Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The diver of the Lexus, a 74-year-old woman, was flown to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.

The Clermont Police Department said it was continuing an investigation into the crash. According to initial results, speed didn't appear to be a factor in the cause of the crash.

Families of both drivers were notified.
