The arrest happened Aug. 25 following a dispute between the deputy and his wife, according to an Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested in late August in connection to a domestic assault investigation.

Shawn R. Davis, 40, was taken into custody Aug. 25 on one count of domestic assault, court records show. He was released on his own recognizance the following day.

Davis is on paid administrative leave, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said Thursday. The sheriff’s office hired him in January 2018.

Jail records do not state the community in which Davis lives. A message left Thursday evening at a telephone number listed for Davis was not immediately returned.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a 911 call from Davis’ wife on the morning of Aug. 25. She told investigators that Davis was intoxicated and belligerent and had thrown her belongings outside.

The woman said Davis tried to retrieve a gun, but could not find the key needed to access it. She alleged that Davis threatened her as he searched through a closet. She told investigators that Davis was a law-enforcement officer and said she feared that he was searching either for a gun or a key to his gun safe.

The woman ran to her car and Davis followed, punching the driver’s side window as the woman tried to drive away, the report said.

According to investigators, Davis acknowledged that he and his wife had gotten into an argument. He denied that he threatened her.

Court records show that the couple married in April.
