1. Sarasota Medieval Fair


Sarasota Medieval Fair, a local favorite since 2005 and now extended to four weekends, returns with a Joan of Arc theme, transporting guests back to 1428 France with beloved events such as jousting, human combat chess matches and much more including a pub crawl and fun foods like those terrific turkey legs. 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 1; Ringling Woods behind Sarasota Fairgrounds, 3000 Ringling Blvd.; 888-303-3247; sarasotamedievalfair.com. 2. Veterans Day Block Party


Now, this is a block party. The free celebration along May Lane will start with an hour of street yoga followed by the singing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and color guard to kick off the bands at 5 p.m. with performances by Dan Johnson of Operation Hemingway, Ari and the Alibis, Enrique Casados and Kaliedogroove. There will be food and beverages by Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba’s, Tsunami Sushi and Gold Coast Eagle Distributing including specialty cocktails. 3. Cortez Stone Crab and Music Festival


Swordfish Grill & Tiki Bar’s annual Cortez Stone Crab & Music Festival returns for an eight year with a "Peace, Love and Claws" Woodstock theme to go along with all those fresh stone crabs to be consumed right in the historic commercial fishing village of Cortez. About a dozen bands will be performing including the Chris Anderson Band (4 p.m. Saturday), Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio (2 p.m. Sunday), R.J. 4. Hispanic Fall Festival


If you’re looking for some tasty food and lots of family fun, here ya go. 5. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk


Postponed because of Tropical Storm Nestor, the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is back on for Sunday with a 5K walk that begins at 9:30 a.m. and the 1-mile starting at 9:45 a.m., after the 5K walkers have passed through the start line. Hungry? Food trucks will be on site. All event participants, including children, need to register for the walk.
