Florida Highway Patrol say two cars hit two trees after one car hit another from behind in Florahome on Saturday night.

A 74-year old woman died of her injuries Saturday night after another driver’s vehicle hit hers, and both vehicles ran off the road and into trees in Putnam County.

A Mercedes sedan driven by Joshua Williams, 30, of Florahome, between Melrose and Palatka, approached the woman’s Hyundai Santa Fe as they drove north on Coral Farms Road near Thornton Lane at about 10:08 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The front of Williams’ vehicle hit the rear of the Santa Fe, the release said.

Upon impact, the release said, both vehicles traveled to opposite shoulders and hit trees.

Williams was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

The identity of the woman killed has not been released, pending next of kin notification.
