Daytona Beach police investigate crash that killed motorcyclist.

DAYTONA BEACH — An Ormond Beach man who was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Daytona Beach has been identified, police said.


Jedadiah Whitmarsh, 34, who was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, died at Halifax Health Medical Center, where he was taken after the crash at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday at North Atlantic Avenue and Plaza Boulevard, according to Daytona Beach Police.


According to investigators, a 2017 Honda Civic driven by Jewan Kodare, 19, of Daytona Beach, was in the northbound lanes of North Atlantic Avenue when the driver stopped at an intersection to turn left onto Plaza Boulevard, police said.

As the Civic turned, it collided with the motorcycle which was headed south on North Atlantic Boulevard, police said. The impact knocked the motorcyclist off his vehicle and onto the ground.


Kodare remained at the scene and called for help while a witness performed CPR on Whitmarsh, police said.


No one else was involved in the crash and investigators are trying to determine who had the right of way as well as other aspects of the crash, police said.


Police have not released the names of the car’s driver or the motorcyclist.


No charges have been filed at this time.
