Jataveious Jennings, 21, of Hawthorne was found guilty of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

A Hawthorne man who deputies say drove a car into a group of people outside their Gainesville apartment in June and fled the scene after causing injuries, has been sentenced to one year in prison, followed by three years of probation.

Jataveious Jennings, 21, was found guilty of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and sentenced Wednesday, court records show.

One of the people hit by Jennings’ vehicle was thrown between 30 and 40 feet upon impact, according to a Gainesville Police sworn complaint, and was taken to the hospital for ankle and arm injuries.
